The Winnipeg Jets have a roster full of youth and experience, and now their GM Kevin Cheveldayoff has challenged the young names to step up and make their mark.

After a solid regular season, the Winnipeg Jets flamed out in round one of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, losing in dominant fashion to the rival Colorado Avalanche. Since then, they've had a change of Head Coach, and it appears the philosophy may have now shifted too, as they may be looking to push their young players more than we've seen in recent years.
When asked during the Hlinka Gretzky Cup, GM Kevin Cheveldayoff seemed excited about the young players coming through the organization, challenging them to step up and take their spots on the roster, singling out the likes of Ville Heinola, Brad Lambert, Logan Stanley and Cole Perfetti.
«The ball's in their court. If you're a young player in our organization right now, it's all in front of you, there for the taking.«
With trade speculation continuing to surround the likes of Nikolaj Ehlers and Kyle Connor, some of those names may be forced into much bigger roles than expected, but with all of those players expected to be stars of the future in the NHL, we could see a major youth movement in Winnipeg. That is also helped by the fact that the team hired the younger Scott Arniel, who has spent plenty of time around the AHL and understands the value of youth in the NHL.
It's unclear what the standing of all these players is in the current Jets lineup, but with training camp on the horizon, we may soon see plenty of indicators as to what those lines will look like in 2024/25.
