Lazar Dukic was a Serbian CrossFit athlete who was competing in an event in Texas earlier today when he appeared to be drowning in the lake and ended up dying.

Lazar Dukic was such a young athlete with many great years still ahead, but everything came to an end for him today in Texas, as he was seen struggling for air in a viral video that has been circulating online, and he ultimately vanished underwater and died. This tragedy took place at the CrossFit Games in Fort Worth's Marine Creek Lake today at 8 a.m.
A search was eventually organized to go out and look for Dukic. After two hours had passed, it was confirmed that there was a death, as First Responders were seen pulling out a body near the area where he had vanished. The CrossFit Games did issue a statement a little while later confirming the tragedy.
"We are fully cooperating with authorities and doing everything we can to support the family at this time."
The remainder of the day's events ended up getting suspended as the area became the scene of an investigation.
Dukic was native of Serbia and had been doing CrossFit for many years, having competed in many tournaments like the one in Texas this week. Dukic is also highly ranked in CrossFit, as he was the third best Cross-fitter in his country of Serbia and the 88th best in the entire world.
Dukic created an Instagram story the night before the competition and advised all fans to ensure they tune in to the live streamed event the following day so that they can watch him. What a tragedy for all of the fans that did tune in to have to bear witness to this horrific event live.
There were a lot of groups who joined together initially to look for Dukic, as it was reported that seven firefighter units were tasked with the search and rescue mission. There were also 10,000 spectators at the event who apparently had flown in from around the world to watch this competition.
Condolences go out to the family of Dukic, and we hope that an investigation yields some much needed answers to questions that everyone has regarding how such a tragedy occurred.
