New details about the trade between the Montreal Canadiens and the Winnipeg Jets involving Sean Monahan have emerged.

A few months ago, before the trade deadline, the Jets agreed on the terms of a trade with the Canadiens. Kevin Cheveldayoff sent two draft picks: their first round selection in 2024, and a conditional third round pick in 2027.
Unfortunately, Monahan couldn't play the role that was expected of him in the playoffs. In five games, he scored only one point. He was better in the regular season, however, with a tally of 24 points, including 13 goals, in 34 games.
The Jets ended up being eliminated in the first round by the Colorado Avalanche, with a feeling that they've let go of their valuable first round pick in 2024 for nothing.
With the second round of the playoffs now in the books, the NHL announced the order of the first 28 picks of the draft.
The Jets earned the 26th pick, which will go to the Habs.
From CapFriendly:
"With the 2nd RD in the books, we now know the order of the first 28 selections in the draft next month.

24- Colorado #GoAvsGo
25- Ottawa #LetsGoSens (from BOS)
26- Montreal #GoHabsGo (from WPG)
27- Carolina #CauseChaos
28- Calgary #Flames (from VAN)"
Not only are the Jets going to lose their first round pick in the next draft, they could see Monahan walk away from the team on July 1st, as he will be a free agent.
Do you think the Winnipeg Jets should keep Sean Monahan?
