The Calgary Flames once saw Monahan as the future of the organization, but through many injuries and the team looking to move in a new direction, they gave up on him, pairing him with a first-round pick and sending him to Montreal.
Now, in his first game as a member of the Winnipeg Jets at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, he tallied a hat-trick in the first period.
Following the first period, Monahan was interviewed, opening up on what the journey has been like and that hat-trick against his former team.
He doesn't seem too excited with his answer, as the game is 4-3 for Calgary with two periods to go, but given that Calgary gave up on him, you know that Monahan is thrilled with his performance and believes he has much left to offer in the NHL going forward.
