After two solid days of no major acquisitions, the Winnipeg Jets have finally become active in free agency, adding two solid players that may play big minutes for them in 2024/25.
The first signing, announced by TSN's Darren Dreger was Mason Shaw, who got his first real taste of NHL action in 2022/23 with the Minnesota Wild, playing in 79 games since that point and tallying just 8 goals and 20 points.
The deal was an affordable one, coming in at just $775k on a one-year deal, and Dreger would then follow that up with the announcement of Haydn Fleury, a depth defenseman that was once drafted at No. 7 overall back in 2014, but struggled to catch on in the NHL, tallying just one goal and five points in 24 games a year ago.
The Jets still have plenty of work to do if they want to go a round or two further in the playoffs in 2024/25, but with this roster and some solid additions, they'll be confidence once more heading into the season.
