The Winnipeg Jets thought they'd landed a star of the future in Rutger McGroarty, but now his recent behaviour has NHL teams staying away from him.

A few weeks ago, reports emerged that Rutger McGroarty, a former first-round pick of the Winnipeg Jets was causing trouble for the organization, refusing to come to the team and instead opting to head back to Michigan. On the back of that, it appeared he was ready to request a trade, and while that hasn't happened, his recent behaviour has done nothing but harm his stock as a future NHLer.
Lots of news today on Rutger McGroarty not being happy and looking to move on from Winnipeg. There's a good chance he's traded by this time next week. Check out my timeline for some of the details.
According to most reports, McGroarty expected a spot in the NHL lineup before he officially committed to Winnipeg, and it's safe to say that those actions haven't gone down well.
"This is crazy to me. We're talking about red flag. A young man who has yet to prove himself at the pro level expects to walk in and be on an NHL roster right away...thats a problem"
It's unclear at this point how the situation will resolve itself, but for McGroarty, the last few months haven't been good for his potential development and respect in the NHL, so now we will continue to wait and see how it plays out.
