The Winnipeg Jets have been pushing to move Rutger McGroarty in recent times, and now it's been revealed they've been engaged in more trade talks.

The 2024 saw plenty of drama and shocking deals, and according to a report, the Jets were almost in the middle of what would have been a shocking deal. According to reports, the team were deep in discussion with the Washington Capitals to land 23-year old forward Connor McMichael.
"There was some chatter around the 2024 NHL Draft that the Jets and Capitals were considering a deal that involved centre Connor McMichael. McMichael is under contract for two more seasons at $2.1M and then will be a restricted free agent. McMichael was bumped down the depth chart with the arrival of former Jets centre PL Dubois." Wiebe said.
That comes from Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Free Press, and according to speculation, a deal may have involved 2022 first-round pick Rutger McGroarty, who is yet to join the Jets due to his desire to get immediate playing time in the NHL. It's unclear if he'd get that playing time for the Jets now given the recent attitude issues raising a red-flag with the young forward, and it may make teams pass up on a potential deal with him.
Still, there's some interest out there, and with the Jets looking to load up on young, NHL ready talent, chasing players like McMichael, who had 33 points in 80 games a year ago makes plenty of sense, so keep an eye on these two parties picking up trade talk again.
