A new announcement from the Ottawa Senators has confirmed an injury to their captain and star player.
Tkachuk Injured By High Stick
An announcement was made today by Ottawa Senators head coach D.J. Smith that captain Brady Tkachuk is dealing with an injury. According to Smith Brady Tkachuk was injured by a high stick just above his eye.
D.J. Smith says the high stick that caught Brady Tkachuk hit just above his eye so he avoided serious damage. (He did require stitches).
He'll miss a couple of days of practice and won't play vs WPG but should be fine to come back for pre-season games when team hits the road.
It sounds as though the Senators narrowly avoided disaster. Tkachuk will rest up and get fully healthy before returning for a final tune-up ahead of the regular season.
The Senators will need to see continued success from Brady Tkachuk along with other core pieces like Tim Stutzle and Jake Sanderson to have a shot at the playoffs this season.
The Senators will be part of one of the toughest divisions in hockey in the Atlantic Division. They will fight with other up-and-coming teams like the Buffalo Sabres and Detroit Red Wings for a potential spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
