Fans of the Anaheim Ducks got some bad new today as star center Trevor Zegras was placed on injured reserve. Through 12 games so far Zegras has just one goal and two points but he is still a big part of Anaheim's forward group.

Ducks Place Zegras On Injured Reserve

The news comes via the NHL News account on X. Zegras has not played since November 7th when he sustained an injury against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Zegras has been disappointing so far this season, but he got a late start due to contract negotiations going awry. It seems that the Ducks management isn't as sold on his abilities as one might assume. Zegras' name has even been floated in trade rumors because the Ducks are believed to be low on him.

Ducks Looking To Take The Next Step Towards Playoffs

The Ducks are currently 8-6 despite Zegras' struggles. That is good for 4th place in a weak Pacific division. The team has made significant strides this year and the emergence of Leo Carlsson has made the team relevant again as they look to end their five-year playoff drought. While that may still be a bit of a longshot, the team is in a much better position to make that happen than most likely would have expected before the season started.
The Ducks will be back in action tomorrow when they take on the Nashville Predators. Zegras will not be eligible to return until the 19th when the Ducks faceoff against the St. Louis Blues.
