Management and coaching staff with the New Jersey Devils must be pretty much shaking in their boots right now waiting for an update on NHL points leader Jack Hughes. According to one Insider, the situation isn't good.
24 to 48 Hours
Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman is reporting it was take some time for the New Jersey Devils to determine exactly what's wring with Hughes and how much recovery time he'll need. That, in itself, raises some questions about the severity of the injury.
"The word on Jack Hughes is it might take a day or two to figure out how serious things are/aren't."
Hughes left last night's game against the the St. Louis Blues before the first period was half over after losing his balance and colliding with the end boards awkwardly and hard.
Hughes has five goals and 20 points in his first 10 games for New Jersey. The impact of losing him long-term would be catastrophic.
