In breaking news, Amazon has just made a massive deal to enter the NHL streaming game with the acquisition of this company. Find out which one below.
Amazon Purchases Minority Stake in Diamond Sports Group
The NHL was recently scrambling when it came to regional broadcasting in the USA, as their main partner, Diamond Sports Group, filed for bankruptcy. However, it appears that regional broadcasts have been saved by none other than tech giant Amazon.
Amazon has agreed to purchase a minority stake in Diamond Sports group, meaning that regional sports games will now be streamed on Amazon Prime.
Big news this morning that Amazon is acquiring a minority stake in Diamond Sports Group.
The regional sports network filed for bankruptcy last year, putting local media rights for 37 teams across the NBA, MLB, and NHL in jeopardy.
Now, customers can watch games on Amazon Prime.
This should be a massive opportunity for the NHL since Amazon Prime will have a much larger reach to a bigger audience than just the local broadcast would. This should give fans across the USA and Canada, and even the globe, better access to games that they previously wouldn't be able to watch.
We will wait and see how this whole thing plays out, though, as few details have been released.
