Kessel was practicing alongside Knights players like Jack Eichel and Mark Stone which has led some to believe that he could be resigning with the Golden Knights and running it back for another cup run.
There is also a solid chance that Kessel is just getting in shape with his former teammates and could be signing elsewhere for the next season. There is speculation that Kessel winds up elsewhere.
Chris Gawlik of Vegas Hockey Now reports the following on the situation:
"Phil Kessel was on the ice getting work in and having fun with his former teammates. Speculation has started to emerge as the Minnesota Wild as a possible landing spot for the NHL's Ironman. Kessel was in great spirits and it was nice to see the band back together possibly for one last time." - Chris Gawlik of Vegas Hockey Now
The Wild could be a viable team for Kessel considering how he played college hockey with the University of Minnesota. There are certainly other teams in the mix but as of now, it is unknown where Kessel will be playing next season.
