After two suspensions a season ago, the WHL has officially announced they have suspended a Victoria Royals player for a whopping 25 games.

A repeat offender

According to the league, Royals forward Alex Edwards has been suspended for 25 games following a gruesome hit from behind on defenseman Dexter Whittle of the Everett Silvertips.

Victoria Royals forward Alex Edwards has been suspended for 25 games for this hit on Everett Silvertips defenceman Dexter Whittle. Edwards was suspended twice last season and will be eligible to return to the lineup on December 1st.
Given that this hit was dirty and unneccessary, as well as Edwards' several suspensions a season ago, no one would have blamed the league for going bigger with the extension, but for now, it's 25 games as theRoyals offer a statement on the situation.
The Western Hockey League announced today the suspension of Alex Edwards for 25 games for a check from behind and match penalty, which took place on September 23rd against the Everett Silvertips. Hockey has and always will be a physical game, but there's no need for this type of action at any level of the game, and for many, this is why fighting should remain in the game, as it protects players from intentional acts like this, but for now, a 25 game suspension is seemingly enough for the WHL.
