Allan Walsh blames Gary Bettman for tragic passing of NHL veteran
In a new statement, the renowned player agent Allan Walsh blamed Gary Bettman for the tragic passing of an NHL veteran in 2019.
It's been five years since the hockey world learned the tragic news of Greg Johnson's passing at only 48 years old.
The NHL has been very good at denying all their implications with chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a neurodegenerative disease caused by repeated head traumas.
However, new evidence is still coming out, confirming that concrete actions must be taken to avoid other tragedies.
A message directly to Gary Bettman - there is NHL player bl*od on your hands. #EndCTE
Johnson's son, Carson, also released a poignant testimony about the tragedy:
"I had no idea what CTE even stood for when my dad took his life. Now understanding that the hits he endured throughout his hockey career damaged his brain, I want all athletes to understand the risks and I want the NHL to start acknowledging it exists and do more to protect its players so other children don't have to lose their fathers."
There's a lot of information available on this issue, making it's hard to see how Bettman continues to deny the truth.
Changes must be made before it's too late. Please, Mr. Bettman, wake up.
