This afternoon a report has come out confirming that former Winnipeg Jet Jason Cirone has sadly passed away at the age of 53.

According to a report from Puck Empire Jason Cirone passed away after a long battle with cancer. Despite having a short NHL career Jason Cirone's impact on the hockey community was felt for decades.

After being selected in the 3rd round of the 1989 NHL Draft by the Winnipeg Jets Jason Cirone worked towards making his NHL debut. In the 1991-92 season, Jason Cirone finally got his opportunity to make his NHL debut with the Winnipeg Jets and played 3 games during that season.
Throughout the rest of his pro hockey career, Jason Cirone would spend most of his time in the minor leagues split between the AHL and the IHL. He did have the honor of representing Italy at the 2006 Olympics in Torino.
After retiring as a player Jason Cirone would go on to pursue a career in coaching. First, he began as an assistant coach with the Motor City Metal Jackets. Eventually, he would find a permanent home with Midland University where he stayed from 2014 to 2022.
We send our condolences and best wishes to Jason Cirone's family, friends, co-workers, and all of those who knew him.
