Gary Bettman likely doesn't want Milan Lucic back in the NHL, as there are no indications he will lift the ban on the former Bruins player.
Milan Lucic has called New Jersey home this summer as he's been working out there in an attempt to get back into shape to re-join the NHL. At the moment, he cannot play in the league until Gary Bettman green lights him. There does not appear to be any indication that will happen.
Lucic was arrested in Boston last November for assault and battery. He pleaded not guilty and all charges were dropped after his wife didn't testify.
Milan Lucic took a leave of absence after the arrest and never returned to the Boston Bruins. He's now an unrestricted free agent (UFA).
NHL commissioner Gary Bettman needs to clear Milan Lucic first before he can play so sadly that doesn't appear it will happen. Lucic has now joined the NHLPA Player Assistance program.
As more information becomes available it will be provided.
