Patrick Kane recently opened up in an interview about his impending free agency and his possible future with the Detroit Red Wings.

The Detroit Red Wings have had a disappointing season this year, with many thinking they would have a bounce-back season with Patrick Kane joining the ranks of Dylan Larkin, Alex Debrincat, and Lucas Raymond. However, they now find themselves fighting to make it into the playoffs.
While they are not mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, they need to win the rest of their games and things have to work out for them to make it. Despite all of this, Patrick Kane has opened up about his pending free agency this offseason, and how he feels about the Detroit Red Wings.
«Obviously, it's in the back of your mind,» he said. «Right now, it's more about being in the moment, being here with this team and trying to get in the playoffs. I think just with the situation I was in and coming in and being here for maybe three-quarters of the season, it's just this year and then we'll see what happens. Hopefully all that stuff figures itself out.»

«Definitely feel better than last year, which is making (surgery) feel like a good decision,» Kane said. «I wasn't really sure going into surgery if it was the right decision. I feel like I put it off for 2-3 years, so it was probably time to do it. Really happy with everything. Feel like it's going to get better and better as time goes on, which is exciting.

«Excited to just keep dialling it in more and more and keep getting better with the hip and feeling it out.»
Kane has 20 goals and 24 assists in just 46 games played for the Detroit Red Wings this season, coming off his offseason surgery. This is pretty incredible, as Kane notes that he still has something left in the tank.
We will see if the Red Wings bring him back for another go at it next season.
