Report reveals that the Winnipeg Jets almost acquired Martin Necas in a trade

This afternoon a new report has come out revealing that the Winnipeg Jets made a major offer to the Carolina Hurricanes for Martin Necas.

For much of this offseason, the Carolina Hurricanes were linked to a trade involving Martin Necas. He and the organization reportedly did not see eye to eye and he wanted out. However, that all changed today when he signed a contract extension.
Martin Necas has re-signed with the Hurricanes on a two-year, $13M deal.
After the extension was signed reports began to come out regarding some of the trade offers that were made for Martin Necas. One report from Frank Seravalli revealed that the Buffalo Sabres had a deal in place but Martin Necas would not have re-signed.
The Buffalo #Sabres reportedly had an offer on the table for Martin Necas that may have been accepted, but Necas informed the Sabres he wasn't interested in re-signing in Buffalo. Per, Frank Seravalli.
Another report from Frank Seravalli confirmed that the Winnipeg Jets were in pursuit of Martin Necas. The Jets apparently offered a huge package trying to land Martin Necas at one point.

Frank Seravalli also revealed that the Winnipeg Jets were one of the major players in the Martin Necas sweepstakes. They reportedly offered Rutger McGroarty, Cole Perfetti, and a draft pick for Martin Necas.

The trade was ultimately turned down however this means that the General Manager of the Winnipeg Jets Kevin Cheveldayoff is looking to make a major move. Things are quiet on the trade front for now but once another big-name target becomes available look for the Winnipeg Jets to be involved.
