Today we got the latest update in the Patrick Kane free agency saga and it brings a ton of information.

Kane Likely To Decide New Destination Shortly

An interview with NHL insider Frank Seravalli provided several updates on Patrick Kane's free agency process. We already knew he had been speaking with teams. Today we got a decision timeline as well.
Colby Cohen: What's the latest on Patrick Kane?

Frank Seravalli: That's a good question, I don't have a firm answer but what I can tell you is the timeline. It certainly seems like by the end of this week just after U.S. Thanksgiving, we will have an answer from Kane.

Seravalli drops a bombshell that this week we could see Patrick Kane in a new home. He also confirms that Kane is back to full health and ready to go once he signs according to sources. Seravalli also was able to comment on which teams are still in the running for Kane.
Frank Seravalli: Here's the thing, the teams I have spoken to in the last 24-48 hours, none of them have got the sense or been told they're out yet, so nobody is out of the mix just yet. Some of the teams that he has met with and or talked with include the Detroit Red Wings, Buffalo Sabres, Dallas Stars, Tampa Bay Lightning, Florida Panthers and the Toronto Maple Leafs, among others.

I know he met with the Leafs last Monday in Toronto before they flew to Sweden. I think the Leafs are on the outside. Detroit, there's been sort of interest in terms of whether he can link up with Alex DeBrincat again. Not sure you want to break up that line, so that hangs in the balance. Will he go to Buffalo? Help them and their playoff drought.

All of these teams have been connected to Kane in the past with varying degrees of intensity. The most interesting piece we get from this answer is that the Maple Leafs look to be on the outside looking in.
With all of these teams in the running Seravalli did try and take a crack at who the favorite could be.

A New Favorite Emerges For Kane

After revealing the contenders Seravalli also answered who the potential favorite is. His answer is a bit shocking considering the rumors and leaks of the past few weeks.
Frank Seravalli: What I can tell you is a lot of teams are wondering if the Florida Panthers are the front runners for Kane's services. You see the start they're off to, they very well of that group be the best chance for Kane to chase a fourth Stanley Cup this season. You see how dynamic their offense has been, carrying that team without their two top defensemen in Brandon Montour and Aaron Ekblad, both now coming back. You can see this Panthers team take off, and there seems to be some thought that the Panthers could be a multi-year destination

This is a huge development in the Kane free agency. The Panthers had been mentioned as more of an outsider to this point. Now they are one of two teams along with the Buffalo Sabres rumored to be willing to give Kane multiple years.
The Panthers are continuing to roll in the regular season and look to be playoff-bound again. They would be a good bet if Kane wanted to chase a Stanley Cup of the teams in on him. While these continue to be rumors with Kane closer to signing these are likely to have more weight behind them than previous ones.
As American Thanksgiving comes and goes in a couple of days Kane watch will reach an all-time high.
