After a period of near radio silence from the player, Leon Draisaitl opened up for the first time following the Edmonton Oilers' crushing Stanley Cup Finals loss to the Florida Panthers.

despite a rocky start to the regular season, the Edmonton Oilers seemed like they were on a run to pull off the near-impossible in the 2024 NHL playoffs. After taking down the Los Angeles Kings, Vancouver Canucks, and Dallas Stars, they pulled themselves into a Game 7 from a 3-0 deficit in the Stanley Cup Finals against the Florida Panthers.
"The Oilers are the first team since 1945 to force a game 7 after being down 3-0 in the Stanley Cup Final"
Unfortunately, Edmonton could not make the final push to victory. The Florida Panthers took their first franchise Stanley Cup, sending the Oilers back home without anything to show for their efforts.
"The Florida Panthers win the Stanley Cup!"
Now, several weeks later, Leon Draisaitl has finally spoken about his 2024 postseason with the Oilers. In an Instagram post, Draisaitl acknowledged defeat while also remaining positive and thankful to Edmonton and its fans.
"A bitter end to a tremendous season. I am confident the growth our group experienced will propel us to the top. Thank you #OilCountry for your unwavering support all season long 🔶🔷"

Though it was a tough loss after a hard-fought season, Leon Draisaitl's optimism is bound to remain an asset to Edmonton for the upcoming season. If the playoffs are anything like last season's though, it will take a little more grit than positivity to take home the Stanley Cup.
