Today a post on X has sparked a spirited debate amongst fans over the possibility of Wayne Gretzky's brother Keith should take over as Edmonton Oilers General Manager.

The Edmonton Oilers have had a strange offseason since losing in the Stanley Cup Finals. Just days after the deciding game it was announced that General Manager Ken Holland would be stepping down.
As we reach the end of his tenure as #Oilers GM & President of Hockey Operations, we thank Ken Holland for his contributions to the team over the past five seasons.
Since stepping down from his post an interim General Manager has been in charge named Jeff Jackson. He has already made several moves including trading away Ryan McLeod and top prospect Xavier Bourgault in a pair of trades. Despite his active tenure a new theory has suggested that a familiar name could be the new permanent General Manager.

Gretzky family could continue their legacy with the Edmonton Oilers

Last night speculation began about a permanent replacement for Ken Holland in Edmonton. One source has suggested Keith Gretzky the brother of Wayne and current assistant general manager for the team.
Again, I think Keith Gretzky can be Oilers' GM going forward. He's very smart, he's put the work in, he runs the farm team. There's such thing as rewarding and trusting people from within an organization with an advancement. Carolina did it with Eric Tulsky.
As Jim Matheson mentions the Carolina Hurricanes did this recently with their Assistant General Manager Eric Tulsky recently. However, many fans do not view the two situations as being the same at all.
Nobody:

Absolutely no one:

Not a single person on the planet:

Jim Matheson: KEITH GRETZKY
The difference is that Tulsky is an actual hockey genius not just a nepo baby. Also Carolina was already run competently unlike the Oilers
Despite fans' displeasure with the possibility of Keith Gretzky taking over the Edmonton Oilers it does seem to be a likely outcome if Jeff Jackson does not keep the job. As of now, there are no official reports of a switch being close. If things continue to develop we will continue updating this story.
