Today a new rumor put out into the world has suggested that the Johnny Gaudreau experiment in Columbus could be nearing an end. A return home could be in the cards for the superstar forward.

Rumor Suggests Gaudreau Could Leave Columbus

Johnny Gaudreau is in his second season with the Columbus Blue Jackets. His time with Columbus has been anything but smooth and successful. This has led to major rumors that the two sides could part ways. A report from Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia has suggested that Gaudreau could be on the trade block.
Rumours have emerged out of Columbus that the Blue Jackets and general manager Jarmo Kekalainen are reportedly open to the idea of discussing all his players for trade purposes with the exception of his young prospects, and that includes star forward Johnny Gaudreau

With Gaudreau's name being floated around in trade talks many people have looked back to his free-agent suitors for potential trade partners. This research has led to one destination being the favorite.

Gaudreau Could Leave Columbus In Favor Of A Homecoming

After this rumor became public one source decided to look at why a homecoming might make sense for Johnny Gaudreau.
Jonathan Bailey of Philly Hockey Now wrote a column that has linked Gaudreau with a trade that sends him to his hometown of Philadelphia. Gaudreau was reportedly interested in Philadelphia during his free agency tour.
Now the Flyers are under new management with Danny Briere and have a much brighter future than they did before. Bailey also referred back to Gaudreau's comments about playing in Philadelphia when they were still in free agency consideration.
I have a ton of family here, all my friends, the 30-year-old previously said. I actually have a wedding this weekend in South Jersey, and all my friends come back here. All my good friends and kids who I have played with all my life are from South Jersey, so it would be sweet to play here someday.»

You never know in sports. It's a lot of support back here in South Jersey and the Philly area, they follow me pretty well.
If the Flyers are still interested in bringing Gaudreau home to Philly it could be a natural fit. The Flyers are on the verge of being contenders again and Gaudreau could be a player that springboards them into that conversation.
