It's just the beginning of the trades for the Oilers
The March 8th trade deadline is less than 48 hours away, and NHL general managers are working on their last deals. Edmonton has been one of the biggest teams to watch for trades, as Ken Holland is still looking for more ways to strengthen his team before the playoffs.
Oilers Make Big Moves Ahead Of Trade Deadline
Earlier today, it was announced that the Oilers made a massive acquisition, involving deals with Anaheim and Tampa Bay. This included pulling in forwards
Adam Henrique and
Sam Carrick. They also gained rights to goaltender Ty Taylor and a seventh-round draft pick for this year.
"The #Oilers have received forwards Adam Henrique & Sam Carrick as well as the rights to goaltender Ty Taylor & a 2024 seventh-round draft pick as a result of trades with Anaheim & Tampa Bay."
Oilers general manager Ken Holland made a statement regarding this deal, praising both forwards Edmonton has acquired.
"What I like about the deal is that we're adding two players, both are versatile."
Holland Indicates Oilers Are Not Done With Trade Deals
Some Oilers followers expressed concerns over the deal, as it gives conditional draft picks to Anaheim and Tampa Bay. Additionally, many of these fans simply feel that this trade is not enough for Edmonton to shine in the playoffs.
These fans may be in luck, as it appears Holland agrees that deals still need to be made. In a statement about the acquisition, he also expressed the desire to hire a strong defenseman.
"We like the six that we've got. I would think that if we do something, we're bringing in somebody to be a No. 7."
With the trade deadline just around the corner, it will be fascinating to watch how the Oilers try to finish building up their team.
