The Boston Bruins have been rolling again this year. Despite significant loses on the offseason in the form of Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci both retiring, the team has been able to find a similar level of success so far this season. However, the team will now be without their captain for an undisclosed amount of time as he has some family obligations to attend.

Marchand Leaves Bruins To Attend Grandmother's Funeral

It was reported last week that Marchand's grandmother had passed away. The bruins captain was undoubtedly affected by this, but he was luckily able to play hero in consecutive games as he lead his team to victory with key goals.
Brad Marchand lost his grandmother Friday night. Then he scored the overtime winner on Saturday and a third-period natural hat trick on Sunday to lead the Bruins to a pair of wins.

On the Bruins captain's emotional weekend takeover:
Bruins reporter Steve Conroy confirmed today that Marchand would be leaving the team to attend his grandmother's funeral.
Brad Marchand returned home for services for his grandmother Frances O'Leary, who passed away last Friday. He's expected back for Thursday's game against Buffalo
Tomorrow's game against the Sabres is the next one on the schedule for the Bruins so it is entirely possible that he will not miss any games during his leave of absence.
Marchand has been a key part of the Bruins success this year. Not only did he take over the captaincy from Bergeron, but he is still producing at a very high level despite getting well into his 30s now. He is still looking for his second career Stanley Cup after he won one in his rookie season.
