Today was a big day in the legal process for Milan Lucic as he appeared in court for the first time.

Lucic Arrives In Court After Arrest

Milan Lucic arrived in court today for the first step in his legal process arraignment. He was charged with assault and battery which has a maximum penalty of two and a half years in jail and a $5,000 fine.
Today was Lucic's first opportunity to speak after his arrest and he did. He said good morning to the judge and entered a plea of not guilty. Beyond this there was no statement or talking from Lucic during the rest of the time he was in the public eye.

What's Next For Lucic

Once he pled not guilty he was released on his own recognizance. The judge also gave him some specific instructions to abide by before his next time in court.
He was ordered to not to abuse his wife (duh) and to not consume alcohol.

Lucic's next step will be a pre-trial hearing on January 19th.

This likely extends his 'leave of absence' from the Boston Bruins until at least that time. With official charges now filed it will be interesting to see if the NHL hands down a suspension to Lucic.
