The Buffalo Sabres haven't had the 2023-24 campaign that many expected, but the future still looks very bright, and now they have another big decision ahead of them.

Who will be the next Sabres captain?

The Sabres have only recently named Kyle Okposo as their captain before trading him away to the Florida Panthers, meaning now, they need to make another huge decision.
That was a recent topic of discussion with Jeff Marek and Elliotte Friedman on the 32 Thoughts podcast, with Marek predicting who will take the C for the young franchise net.
Marek on 32TP: "Rasmus Dahlin now with Kyle Okposo gone, he's the next captain. He's the next captain of the Buffalo Sabres"

EF: "You don't think there's any chance it's Tuch?"

JM: "I'm just feeling the whole things being done around Rasmus Dahlin"
A lot was made of Tuch's Sabres childhood fandom and his excitement to be a Sabre when he was acquired in the Jack Eichel deal, so if he were to be named captain, there would be few in Buffalo that would argue the decision.
On the other hand, Dahlin has shown serious star quality, and has been with the team since 2018, as well as being signed through the next eight seasons with the Sabres.
Ultimately, they can't go wrong with either one in charge, but at this point, it appears Dahlin is the front runner as the Sabres attempt to go from young, talented, up-and-coming team to a genuine contender in the stacked Eastern Conference.
