Longtime Calgary Flame Brett Sutter is trading his skates for the suit. The veteran announced his retirement today after a 17 year-career, including 1,090 games in the AHL and 60 in the NHL.

Now, Sutter is joining head coach Trent Cull and assistant coach Joe Cirella on the Calgary Wranglers' bench.
Nothing fancy, just like my game. Thanks to my beautiful family for the endless support. Every coach & staff member along the way. Incredible fans on every stop. The best friends in the world. Lastly, and what I'll miss the most, my teammates. There was never a bad day at the 1/2
A sixth round pick in 2005, he spent four years in the WHL with the Kootenay Ice and Red Deer Rebels. In 2007, he was promoted to the AHL where he played 1,090 games, placing him 4th all-time on the AHL games played list. He was the first captain in franchise history and maiden player in Calgary Wranglers history to accomplish the feat.
Rink. I'll miss the coffee's, laughs, win songs, road trips. All of it. It was the best 17 years I could've asked for. Thanks again, and see you all at the rink soon.

Sutter scored 198 goals and had 265 assists for 463 points in the regular season, and had 11 goals and 33 points in 69 postseason contests. He won the AHL's Fred T. Hunt Memorial Award in 2018-19 for sportsmanship, determination, and dedication.
So fortunate to have this opportunity to stay in the organization. Come back and help these kids that I care about so much.

Brett Sutter shares his thoughts on his retirement from pro hockey and on joining the Wranglers coaching staff!
Sutter spent seven years in the Los Angeles Kings organization, where he captained the Ontario Reign for five of them, and also was a five year member of the Carolina Hurricanes, and had a cup of coffee with the Minnesota Wild.
Yet he will always be remembered as a Flame. It's where he started, ended and the place he will be continuing his hockey career.
