The Calgary Flames rebuild is well under way after a fire sale in 2023/24, and now one of those top acquisitions will likely be on the move in the near future.

After selling off seemingly all of their top stars, the Calgary Flames are committed to a rebuild under Craig Conroy, and with a few pieces left to sell, the 2025 trade deadline could look very similar to 2024. One name that is emerging as a major trade chip is Andrei Kuzmenko, who joined the team last season as one of the pieces in the trade with Vancouver who acquired star forward Elias Lindholm.
Now, all expectations are that Kuzmenko will become a trade chip at the deadline, with the 28-year old having immense potential, but simply not matching up with the timeline of this current Flames team.
"While the Flames are patient with Kuzmenko, his long-term future in Calgary hinges on his ability to round out his game beyond scoring. If he becomes more than just a solid goal scorer, he could earn a long-term extension. However, if he doesn't, he may become a desirable trade deadline trade target before he hits free agency next summer." Parsons said.
After joining Calgary, Kuzmenko got hot and continued that way throughout the year, netting 14 goals and compiling 25 points in just 29 games played, quickly turning around his early season slump. His value will depend highly on how he starts this season, but if he continues scoring goals at a rapid pace, expect Craig Conroy to try and get a haul for him as his takeover of the Flames continues.
