The Columbus Blue Jackets' general manager, Don Waddell, shared an update on Patrik Laine and his desire to be traded to another organization.

Once again, Patrik Laine was involved in plenty of trade rumors in the offseason after a rough season in the NHL.
He was limited to a mere 18 games in the season due to significant injuries, which forced him to join the Player Assistance Program.
When he cleared the program, he made his intentions clear, but nothing concrete has emerged yet.
Waddell has been talking to teams and exploring his options to trade Laine and recently reported a new update.
In a recent interview with The Hockey Writers, Waddell stated that the Blue Jackets' new coach, Dean Evason, talked to Laine, who reiterated his wish to be traded.
Here's what he said:
"THW: Have you personally had the chance to speak to him [Laine] yet?

Waddell: Dean (Evason) did talk to him, very cordial conversation, but he's made it clear that he wants a fresh start somewhere else."
Many changes were made in Columbus over the summer: Dean Evason was named as head coach, Don Waddell as GM, and they brought in interesting players such as Sean Monahan and Jack Johnson. Some fans hoped that these changes would be enough for Laine to reconsider, but unless Waddell can make a deal before the start of the season, the player may have already played his last game with the Blue Jackets.
