After a long recovery from knee surgery, Colorado Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar has confirmed that we can expect captain Gabriel Landeskog back on the ice toward the start of the season.

Gabriel Landeskog is a major part of recent Colorad Avalanche history. after 11 years with the team, the NHL captain finally had the chance to lift the Stanley Cup after defeating the Tampa Bay Lightning. Unfortunately, during the series, he had suffered too many knee injuries and has since not played in the NHL.
"Win or lose, you want to be out there with the guys, right? Like, even after heartbreaking losses, you want to be in the room with the guys, you want to be around the guys, you want to be there to support them, and just kind of go through all those things with them, whether it's ups or downs but, at the end of the day, I knew it wasn't necessarily my time and I tried to support the guys the best I could, be around the team, which was probably equally as important for the guys as it eas for me as well, and for my mental state, just to be around the guys and around the team, so... Hard, no doubt, but I just kind of kept telling myself that, you know, there will come a time when you're back in there and your time will come, type of thing."
At 31 years old and two years into a knee injury recovery, many thought his hockey career might be over. However, according to NHL reporter Tom Gulitti, Colorad Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar confirmed that Gabriel Landeskog can be expected in the lineup toward the start of the season.
"He's trying to make a return here sometime near the start of the season and if that goes well, it would be a really big boost for us. So, that's something we're all a little anxious about, but really excited about as well. He hasn't played for us in two years."
Gabriel Landeskog has already had an impressive career with the Colorado Avalanche, scoring 248 goals and 571 points in 738 regular-season games. Now, it seems he will get a chance to expand on those numbers in the 2024-25 season, with the possibility of finishing his contract over the next five years. Provided how he looks in recent skating practice videos, this could be a great comeback season for Gabriel Landeskog.
