Tony DeAngelo's fate has all but been determined for where he will play next season. After being traded to the Philadelphia Flyers in July of 2022, the team bought out his contract, rendering him a free agent.

Hurricanes not Interested

Many thought that the Hurricanes' GM Don Waddell was waiting for this moment, which could have been a potential reason for the trade initially falling through back in June.
However, it's been reported that Waddell hasn't even contacted DeAngelo's agent as he entered free agency, indicating that the team is no longer interested.

DeAngelo's Fate

DeAngelo is speculated as having some significant attitude problems in the locker room, being the only player in NHL history to be bought out of their contract twice.
DeAngelo recorded 11 goals, 31 assists last season with the Flyers.
