The Colorado Avalanche are gearing up for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and now have a major update on star forward Mikko Rantanen.

At this time of year, an injury could completely change the fortune of a franchise, and unfortunately, that's exactly what the Colorado Avalanche feared when star forward Mikko Rantanen went down with an injury. Now, Head Coach Jared Bednar has given a major update on Rantanen with the playoffs now just weeks away.
#Avs coach Jared Bednar said Mikko Rantanen is in concussion protocol, but he worked out yesterday and skated on his own this morning. Called him day-to-day.
When healthy, this team could be considered the Stanley Cup favourite in the West with Nathan MacKinnon, Cale Makar and one of the deepest teams in the NHL. however, their chances at a second Cup in three years could depend on Rantanen, but following regular return times from concussion protocol, he should be ready to return in time for the playoffs.
After being struck by Oilers defenseman Mattias Ekholm against the boards during the second period in Edmonton, Colorado's coach Jared Bednar reported that Mikko Rantanen skated solo on Sunday. He is currently marked as day-to-day.
In 77 games this season, Rantanen has an impressive 102 points, just three short of the career high he set a season ago, and now, Avalanche fans will be waiting optimistically for his return.
