The Edmonton Oilers' controversial forward Evander Kane received an official punishment from the NHL's Department of Player Safety.

During the first half of the second period, Kane landed a violent slash on Hunt and was sent to the penalty box for two minutes. The Flames managed to capitalize on the powerplay.
"with evander kane in the box for this slash, yegor sharangovich makes it a one goal game."
In a new post on X, the NHL announced that Kane must pay a $5,000 fine for slashing Dryden Hunt in Saturday night's game against the Calgary Flames.
Here's their full statement:
"Edmonton's Evander Kane has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for slashing Calgary's Dryden Hunt."
That wasn't Kane's only feud of the night. He also made headlines for his argument with Corey Perry at the bench.
The Oilers are gearing up for yet another playoff run and this time, they'll need everyone on board, playing with intensity and passion. Kane will need to do better.
More to come.
