The Columbus Blue Jackets drafted Cayden Lindstrom knowing his injury history, and now, he has suffered another major setback ahead of training camp.

The 2024 NHL Draft was loaded with talent through every single round, and while all eyes were on Macklin Celebrini to the San Jose Sharks, the Blue Jackets made an equally good move by drafting Cayden Lindstrom of the Medicine Hat Tigers. In 31 WHL games a year ago, the 6-foot-3 center tallied an impressive 27 goals, although his appearing in just 31 games was certainly a red-flag for some teams heading into the draft.
Now, it appears as though we know why, as a recent report has revealed that he has been ruled out of the upcoming NHL Prospects Challenge in Buffalo as he looks to recover from an injury.
Not only that, but Aaron Portzline of The Athletic has revealed he will only be at training camp in a limited role, as the team look to be patient with the litany of injuries that he's dealt with in recent years.
Given his unique combination of size, skill and production, as well as playing one of the most important positions in hockey, if the team can develop him alongside Adam Fantili, Kent Johnson, David Jiricek and others, it's safe to say that this team certainly have the potential to be a good team for years to come.
