Following the deaths of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau, the family has released a statement in regards to the unthinkable tragedy.
The world woke up to the saddest news in recent times. Johnny Gaudreau, a Columbus Blue Jackets forward, and his little brother Matthew are no more after a shocking accident on Thursday evening. Per the local police, the brothers were biking in Salem County, New Jersey, and were hit by a suspected drunk driver and sadly succumbed to their injuries.
Earlier this afternoon, their uncle Jim Gaudreau issued a family statement to express their profound grief on the passing of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau.
The brothers were going to serve as groomsmen at the wedding of their sister Katie on Friday afternoon. A ceremony, which was supposed to take place at 1:45 p.m. at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Gloucester City, was appropriately postponed, as reported by TMZ, in light of the tragedy.
Johnny Gaudreau is survived by his wife Meredith, their two young children, Noa and Johnny, his parents Guy and Jane, and his sisters Kristen and Katie. Now, the family has to go through the worst moments in the days ahead that one could ever imagine.
Our deepest condolences are with the entire Gaudreau family.
