The Edmonton Oilers have been off to a catastrophic start for their standards. This has led fans to call for major organizational changes.
Oilers Off To A Horrific Start
The Edmonton Oilers have just 2 wins in their first 9 games to begin the season. While their offense has been still pretty consistent the team can't find ways to win. The problems mostly lie with the defensive side of the game and the goaltending.
The Oilers have given up the 5th most goals in the league this season. This is entirely unacceptable for a team with Stanley Cup aspirations.
This major flaw has led many fans calling for changes in the coaching staff.
Oilers Fans Calling For Major Change
With the Oilers struggles to start the year many fans are in panic mode. The biggest share of the blame seems to be on Oilers head coach Jay Woodcroft for his lack of focus on defense.
How does jay woodcroft still have a job
Last week, Jay Woodcroft's defensive system was being questioned by Oilers fans left scratching their heads after a slow start. Today, @jtbourne explains what the system is, with help from @Abrew2014.
Woodcroft has also been often criticized for his inability to put together forward lines. In crunch time he often just relies on putting Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl together.
Why did Woodcroft refuse to break up Mcdrai tonight? They weren't clicking all night. Failing to have Gagner on the ice in final minute is also disappointing. Mcdavid doesn't look healthy %Drai wasn't good. Oilers overall played a good game I thoughtnot good enough.
When this strategy doesn't work Woodcroft catches major criticism.
If Woodcroft and the Oilers can't find a way out of their struggles multiple jobs could be lost.
