The General Manager mentioned that the Oilers would start the season with the same defensive and goaltending units seen in the last playoffs.
"We're going to start with the seven defensemen who finished last year. The goalies are set."
Number Two
Campbell had three strong seasons with the Maple Leafs before joining the Oilers. Since then, things have not been easy for Campbell, who experienced a challenging year last season.
He played 36 games, with a record of 21-9-4, a 0.888 SV% and a 3.41 GAA.
While the record may not seem too bad, much of that success can be attributed to playing alongside Connor McDavid. His save percentage and goals-against average, however, were horrible.
That's why the young Stuart Skinner was able to assume the role of the Oilers' number one goalie.
He played 50 games last season, recorded 29-14-5, with a SV% of .914 and a GAA of 2.73.
Unless Skinner faces challenges in the training camp and Campbell brings his A-game, Campbell is likely to remain the Oilers' number two for the upcoming season.
