The Edmonton Oilers will be bringing back one of their former top picks on a PTO.

Oilers To Bring Back Gagner

A recent report from The Oil Rig has revealed that the Edmonton Oilers intend on bringing Sam Gagner back on a PTO.
It looks like the #Oilers are turning to a long-time journeyman they originally drafted in Sam Gagner.

The team is reportedly going to give him a PTO for the 202324 training camp.

More details on the Oilers potentially bringing Gagner back here.

Gagner has two previous stints with the Oilers, 2007-2014 and 2018-2020, which have seen him play 542 games with the franchise that originally picked him 6th overall in 2007.

What Gagner Brings

Gagner has never broken out as the offensive dynamo that the Oilers were hoping he would become when they drafted him originally but he is far from a bad player.
Through his 1,015-game career, Gagner has scored 192 goals and 519 points which is quite respectable. He is coming off a year where he had 8 goals and 14 points in 48 games with the Jets.
While his numbers in Winnipeg were not stellar, he is still more than capable of becoming a solid bottom-six forward for the Oilers who can chip in offensively.
