What a night for Connor McDavid! The Edmonton Oilers' captain made history on Monday, notching his 100th assist of the season against the San Jose Sharks. With that assist, McDavid joins an elite club, becoming just the fourth player in NHL history to reach the 100-assist mark in a single season.

McDavid's milestone moment came with five minutes remaining in the second period when he set up Zach Hyman for a goal during a two-on-one rush. The incredible feat adds another highlight to McDavid's already impressive season, where he's also tallied 54 goals.

Joining legends like Bobby Orr, Mario Lemieux, and Wayne Gretzky (11X) in the 100-assist club is no small feat. In fact, Gretzky achieved this milestone a remarkable 11 times throughout his illustrious career. The last player to accomplish this feat was Gretzky himself back in the 1990-91 season with the Los Angeles Kings.
With McDavid's exceptional performance, the Oilers find themselves with a 9-1 lead over the San Jose Sharks at the end of the second period. It's truly a night to remember for McDavid and Oilers fans everywhere!
