The last thing that Oilers fans were expecting was for their veteran player to engage in an offseason fight, and Corey Perry did just that, fighting a WWE wrestler.

The NHL season may be in the offseason, but Corey Perry couldn't resist getting into some action off the ice.
The Edmonton Oilers forward and longtime NHL veteran was in attendance for WWE's Friday Night Smackdown this week, which just so happened to be taking place in Edmonton, Alberta. While Corey Perry was just a spectator in the audience as a fan, his evening became quite interesting indeed when he became involved at the center of the action.
It all got kicked off when wrestlers Austin Theory and Grayson Waller got under the skin of the hometown crowd by showing off a Florida Panthers jersey, an obvious jab at Edmonton's Oilers faithful. Corey Perry, who was caught on camera during the exchange, didn't look exactly thrilled with the move.
As the match wore on, the fight broke out of the ring and right onto the floor outside the spectator area, just beside where Corey Perry was sitting. Not one to let an opportunity slip away, Perry inserted himself into the action to help out Canadian wrestler Kevin Owens by reaching in and grabbing Theory from behind, leaving him wide open for Owens' next move. Owens didn't miss a beat, laying a thunderous slap on Theory that rang around Rogers Place.
Corey Perry, superstar WWE wrestler? Kind of has a nice ring, come to think of it.
