The Toronto Maple Leafs have made some upgrades to their roster this off-season, but this latest trade proposal would take their blue line from good to great.

Surprisingly, the Vegas Golden Knights have had a quiet summer, and after losing some offensive firepower, they may be looking to make a move, and it's something that the Toronto Maple Leafs could look to capitalize on. That's exactly what has happened in this latest trade proposal from social media, in a move that could be mutually beneficial for two Stanley Cup contenders heading into the 2024/25 campaign.
Marner for Pietrangelo?

Not sure Theodore would fit anymore after the OEL signing and Berube/Savard/van Ryn would all be extremely familiar with Pietrangelo

Just spitballing, I'd think VGK would have to add and maybe the Leafs want a C, but there's probably something there
The main part of this deal would revolve around Mitch Marner for Alex Pietrangelo, and while both teams would likely need to add more, that's intriguing enough to work on the surface, as it would improve both teams. Toronto would likely need to find another top winger to pair with Auston Matthews if this deal went through, but with the additions of Chris Tanev and Oliver Ekman-Larsson, this would make their blue line potentially elite.
With the Golden Knights adding Noah Hanifin to their roster last year, they've got the firepower on the back end, but will now need to replace Jonathan Marchessault, and if both players are available for trade, don't be surprised if the two teams begin to talk at some point.
