The Edmonton Oilers have major salary cap issues, and Stan Bowman is the man in charge to fix it before it costs the team two significant players.

PuckPedia reports that the Oilers are over the salary cap by $354,167, and while that may not seem like a huge deal in the middle of summer, it doesn't take into account that they still have two restricted free agents that need contracts: Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg. Bowman will likely need to make some trades or buyouts in order to get under the cap.
For those wondering what type of money will be needed to sign their two remaining free agents, Oilers Now host Bob Staueffer said the ballpark number will be just over $1 million for each player. These two signings would then put the Oilers millions and millions over the cap.
The @EdmontonOilers Dylan Holloway saw significant time in EDM's top 9 FWDS during the Stanley Cup Playoffs and responded with 5 goals. Despite the additions of Jeff Skinner and Victor Arvidsson I have a sneaking suspicion that Holloway will play his way up the line-up this season.
Players are now at risk of being traded by Bowman. Holloway and Broberg are not safe either just because they would have signed a new contract, as they could be the two likely players on their way out if moves had to be made. It would be a sign and trade, as we've seen happen many times before.
Bowman and the Oilers will be very busy over the next few weeks making moves to get back under the cap, and fans are hoping that despite the rough controversial start with the team, he will be able to clean up the mess that was left for him.
