We had more empty net drama between the Ottawa Senators and the New Jersey Devils. Remember that controversial clash earlier this season between Morgan Rielly and Ridley Greig? Rielly got for a cross-check after Greig clap bombed a biscuit into the empty cage.
The Devils held a slim 4-3 lead against the Senators. With the clock ticking down, Nico Hischier gets possession of the puck. Now, instead of going for the glory and padding his stats with an empty-net goal, Hischier decides to play it cool and let the time run out.
Well, that didn't sit well with Brady Tkachuk. He was livid. Tkachuk charges down the ice, looking to settle the score with Hischier. But his teammates step in to cool things down.
Officials jumped in calming the chaos, but Tkachuk isn't done yet. He's still fired up, trying to stir things up with Brendan Smith. Luckily, the refs intervene before things escalate further.
In the end, despite all the commotion, the only penalty dished out is a minor one to Hischier. And as Tkachuk skates off the ice, frustration written all over his face, it's another missed opportunity for the Senators as they seek to close the season strong.
