Edmonton Oilers fans enjoyed their evening on Wednesday night.
Things couldn't have gone worse for them at the start when Wyatt Johnston of the Dallas Stars scored less than a minute into the game, followed by another goal by Logan Stankoven shortly after.
Yet Edmonton rebounded and offered an electric comeback in front of their jubilant fans, en route to a 5-2 win, evening the Western Conference Finals at two games apiece.
Before the first intermission, the Oilers managed to draw even goals from Ryan McLeod and Evan Bouchard.
And they didn't stop there. Even with a man down, forward Mattias Janmark scored his second goal of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, puttung the Oilers in front. And just 51 seconds later, Leon Draisaitl added another goal to double their lead.
From then on, it was all about Edmonton maintaining control of the contest which they did through a shutdown third period to the delight of Oilers nation.
As the clock wound down, Oilers fans were letting the Stars know they meant business with chants of "We want the Cup," something they haven't achieved since way back in 1990.
The last time they won Western Conference finals games before this was back in 2006 when they made it to the Cup final but fell short against the Carolina Hurricanes in a seven-game series. Yet Oilers fans can taste it now for the first time in the Connor McDavid era. They're on the doorstep of history. Just two more wins are between them and a date with destiny.
