The Edmonton Oilers already have one of the best forward groups in the Western Conference, but according to one insider, it could be about to improve in a big way.
Edmonton Oilers favoured to land Penguins star Jake Guentzel
While the Oilers have been linked to Jake Guentzel for some time, renowned NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman has now gone out on a limb and predicted that if he is moved, the Edmonton Oilers are the likely landing spot.
Friedman on the Oilers and their deadline plans (32TP): "If Guentzel is available, my opinion is that's their guy, that's the guy they'd like to get"

This would be a huge development for an Oilers team that has already added Corey Perry, as it would give them some of the best forward depth in the entire Western Conference.
Edmonton to add another star up front?
With the ageing core in Pittsburgh, Guentzel has tallied an impressive 50 points in 47 games this season, but paired up with a McDavid or Draisaitl, it's hard to imagine that production doesn't sky rocket.
The acquisition of Guentzel would limit their opportunities to improve on either the blue line or in net, but if it pays off, it's safe to say that this becomes a team that no one in the West wants to play come playoff time.
