Top Edmonton Oilers Trade Target Facing Potential Long-Term Injury
After a horrible start of the season, the Edmonton Oilers are officially back on top and are gearing up to a playoff run where expectations are high.
Less than a Stanley Cup would be a disappointment for
Connor McDavid and the Oilers.
As they're looking for any last-minute addition before the trade deadline, they've learned terrible news concerning one of their most interesting targets.
Pittsburgh Penguins Jake Guentzel Leaves Game With Injury Could Force the Oilers to Target Another Player on the Market
On Wednesday night, the Pittsburgh Penguins forward Jake Guentzel left the game with more than half of the third period remaining.
Head coach Mike Sullivan confirmed that he would be evaluated for an upper-body injury today.
"Jake Guentzel did not play the final 11:58 of Pittsburgh's 5-2 loss to Florida. Head coach Mike Sullivan says the forward is being evaluated for an upper-body injury."
If Guentzel is seriously injured, the Edmonton Oilers could need to look somewhere else to bolster their lineup before the deadline.
However, it also means that the player's value could drop and make things easier for Ken Holland.
Details on Guentzel's injury are expected to be released later today and we'll keep you updated.
