Today a well-respected NHL insider has connected the Edmonton Oilers to a top goal scorer in the NHL. The player linked to the Oilers has a prior connection to GM Ken Holland.

25-Goal Scorer Linked To The Oilers In A New Report

Today on the 32 Thoughts Podcast NHL insider Jeff Marek has officially linked a top-end goal scorer to the Edmonton Oilers. Marek says he wonders if Anthony Mantha would be a natural fit to land with the Oilers before the deadline passes.
Marek on 32TP wonders about Anthony Mantha in Edmonton, obvious Holland connection, he drafted him in Detroit.
Mantha who currently plays for the struggling Washington Capitals would help bolster the middle of the lineup for the Oilers. The only concern would be the cost of acquiring Mantha.

Is Mantha The Big Ticket Acquisition The Edmonton Oilers Need?

With the Edmonton Oilers holding strong in the playoffs with 68 points the team is expected to make a move to improve their roster. Anthony Mantha has now officially been linked to the Oilers but is he a good fit?
Anthony Mantha has not been the player he used to be during his Washington Capitals stint. In three seasons with the Capitals, this will be the first time Mantha will break the 30-point plateau.
This is a stark drop off from his time under Ken Holland in Detroit where he reached 40 points multiple times.
If the Oilers were to give up significant assets for Mantha it would need to mean that Ken Holland is sure he can resurrect the player Anthony Mantha used to be. If they trade for Mantha and he flops then it could further put Holland's job security in jeopardy.
