It appears the Edmonton Oilers have a heavy interest in two former first-round picks of the Nashville Predators: Dante Fabbro and Philip Tomasino.

Breaking news emerged earlier this evening, reported by Frank Seravalli, suggesting that the Edmonton Oilers are on the verge of completing a trade to acquire a defenseman. The proposed deal, which Seravalli mentioned could be finalized before the start of training camp, looks to strengthen the Oilers' defense, a unit that the departures of Cody Ceci and Philip Broberg have recently weakened.
There are some rumblings that the Edmonton Oilers & Nashville Predators have been discussing a trade surrounding D Dante Fabbro.

Am working on confirming the reports.

The players in question are Dante Fabbro and Philip Tomasino, both former first-round picks by the Predators. Fabbro, who appeared in 56 games last season, scored three goals and 10 assists for 13 points. Meanwhile, Tomasino, who featured in 41 games, contributed seven goals and 13 assists for 20 points. Notably, Tomasino is currently a restricted free agent, and could potentially receive offer sheets, as we've seen recently, while Fabbro carries a $2,500,000 cap hit in the final year of his contract.
As speculation swirls, the potential acquisition of these two players could address key gaps in the Oilers' roster, making this a situation worth monitoring closely. If the deal materializes, it would not only strengthen the team's defense but also potentially set the stage for a more competitive season, as the team looks to win the Stanley Cup after having come oh so close to it when losing in game 7 to the Florida Panthers.
