Rangers rookie Matt Rempe has quickly become a household name in the hockey world due to his physical play and willingness to drop the gloves with anyone. Last night however, he made headlines for a very dirty hit.
Rempe Ejected For Hit On Devils Defenseman
The 6'8" center was caught making an unnecessary hit on Devils defenseman Jonas Siegenthaler in which he appeared to deliberately stick his elbow up in an attempt to hit the blueliner in the head. He was given a major and match penalty for the play, already his second match penalty in just ten games.
Today, the NHL announced a 4 games suspension for the young forward.
Rempe Suspended For Hit To The Head
Rempe won't be a factor for the Rangers in their upcoming games as he now faces the consequences of his hit on Siegenthaler. The league announced his suspension this afternoon.
