After a disappointing playoff performance, fans of the Rangers were looking to run Jacob Trouba out of town this off-season, and it almost worked. Over the past week, it became clear that the Rangers were looking to move their fresh captain, with the Detroit Red Wings reportedly closing in on a deal.
With a no-movement clause, Trouba had control over his future, and it's now been revealed that his wife's residency was the reason behind blocking a trade to the Red Wings.
This doesn't rule out a trade to a team closer to home over the next few months, but as of right now, it appears there's nothing imminent for Jacob Trouba, which may hinder the Rangers chances of targeting big free agents this summer.
